Native tree with large, unique seedpods that create year round interest and then burst into pink spring blooms. Bright golden fall color. Bright gold fall color. Shrubby in full sun, more treelike in shadier spots. Always multi-trunked, well adapted to rocky/caliche escarpment soils, fine with well-drained clay. A very low maintenance and drought tolerant tree once established. Nectar plant, host to Woodland Elfin Butterfly.
