Sideroxylon lanuginosum

Underused native tree, found in our area, resembles a young live oak in appearance, persistent near-evergreen foliage. Visually insignificant flowers valuable summer nectar source for hummingbirds, followed by fruit for birds. Use as understory, screening, specimen, or even small shade tree. Adaptable to many soil conditions, tolerant of seasonal moisture, very drought tolerant once established.
