Salvia roemeriana, Cedar Sage

Found beneath Cedars and Oaks in the Hill Country west into the Trans Pecos, this woodland Salvia delights with semi evergreen foliage and scarlet red blooms hummingbirds & native pollinators love, does not thrive in heavy shade. Reseeds self. Best in well drained soils, adaptable to heavy clays but not wet feet: avoid overly frequent water in our area.
