Sabal mexicana, Texas Palmetto

Native to the Rio Grande Valley, adds a touch of the tropics to our landscapes. Cold hardy, slow growing, beautiful. Evergreen blue green fronds form dense shrubby mass then slowly rise skyward as thick trunk forms with age. At maturity fruiting starts feeding a plethora of wildlife. Adaptable to many soil types, including areas with seasonal moisture, drought tolerant but best in areas that recieve regualr irrigation in summer.
