Native fruit. Scattered populations in Central Texas Hill Country, found primarily in riparian canyons and bottomlands. Needs fast draining soil, best in similar to native habitat. Beautiful tall, glossy leafed trees. White flowers spring attract pollinators, followed by showy berries birds love which can be harvested, gold fall color. Like all Plum family plants, seeds and all parts except fruit inedible.
