Populus deltoides

Native to riparian bottomlands through the state. Best planted in same conditions or regularly irrigated areas; perfect by stock tanks. Grows tall quickly, provides extensive shade. At maturity: lush foliage with distinctive "rustling" in summer breezes, showy white mottled bark and golden fall color. Valuable to wildlife. Deciduous. Great for stabilizing riverbanks.
