Native fruit tree,plentiful sweet black fruit June July, native to river bottoms and woodlands in Central & East Texas, naturalized alongside settlements throughout state. Fast growing, best in deep soils, but adaptable; great candidate for food forests, orchards, & wildlife gardens. Drought tolerant, but needs regular water during establishment, best fruit with occasional summer irrigation.
