Frangula caroliniana

A native understory tree that thrives in partial shade, adaptable to much of state, handsome layered growth habit reminiscent of Eastern Dogwood. Berries that ripen in late summer/early fall are favored by many bird species, and the tree acts as a larval host to the Snout butterfly.
