Native to much of southern half of Texas up into Dallas area Blackland Prairie. A twining vine with very unique and interesting "nodding" purple flowers. Does best with its "feet in the shade, head in the sun." It's a good idea to plant in such a way where the afternoon sun, in particular, is filtered by other plants or structures. Well drained rocky, clay soils; best in areas with summer irrigation.
