Amorpha fruticosa

Found near water, False Indigo can take drought periods, but also poor drainage and flooding, which can be of value in our area. Also nice near stock ponds. Showy near black deep purple blooms spring attract numerous native pollinators &hummingbirds. Larval host: Silver Spotted Skipper, Southern Dogface, California Dogface, Gray Hairstreak, Hoary Edge. Large, open shrubs or small trees; may form colony via seeds/sucker. 

Deciduous, hardy z4-z10.
