Found through much of state, normally in bottomlands, where it often forms groves of small trees, overlooked as shade tree. Round crowned, pretty shade trees, clear gold fall color, fragrant flowers spring followed by glasslike gold fall fruit containing sapindus. Very attractive to wildlife, host plant of Soapberry Hairstreak. Fine in most soils, including poor & disturbed; great heat, drought, cold tolerance. Tough.

Very drought tolerant once established. 

Deciduous, cold hardy z6-z9.
