Salvia penstemonoides

aka Penstemon Sage. Endemic to the Edward's Plateau & once thought extinct this beautiful Salvia mimics growth patterns of Penstemon: a low near-evergreen rosette of glossy leaves sends forth tall stalks of magenta purple blooms in summer which attract hummingbirds & pollinators. Seeds popular with songbirds. Will grow in any decently drained soil. Drought tolerant once established.
