Quercus vaseyi

This petite, pretty oak from Mexico into Southwestern Texas deserves more popularity. Extremely drought tolerant once established. Adaptable to our clay as well as rocky escarpment soils. Naturally forms small thickets, easily trimmed into single trunked tree. Pale, fairly smooth bark contrasts well with deep green eaves which are persistent (nearly evergreen) A perfect little oak for a compact yard, as a specimen, or even part of a screen.
