Juniperus asheii

The much maligned "Cedar" of the Texas Hill Country, this native conifer deserves its redemption arc.  A moderate to fast growing evergreen, necessary for supporting wildlife as both a food source and nesting site, as well as nursery plant for other plant species, it also makes an attractive screen or accent in your yard which can be pruned up with age as small shade tree. Berries have historic usage in culinary & medicinal practices as well. Best in rocky escarpment soils, drought tolerant once established.
