Illex x 'Nellie R Stevens', Nellie R Stevens Holly

One of the best large screening shrubs for shadier spots, this tall, dense holly is only lightly armed with glossy deep green foliage & large, showy red berries in winter. Can be easily kept sheared for narrower shape, or even boxed, natural form tall oval and quite attractive. Best in compost amended soils in areas with irrigation, mulch young plants deeply to help keep roots moist. Rarely needs iron supplementation, unlike most non native hollies.
