Diospyros texana, Texas Persimmon

Native to moist woodlands and river bottoms in the Eastern third of the state, forms a small to mid sized, rounded deciduous tree with fragrant spring flowers pollinators love followed by sweet, orange fruit. Showy fall color. Larval host plant of the lovely Luna Moth! Use in woodland gardens for wildlife habitat or as part of edible landscaping. Best in deep soils in areas that will receive regular irrigation.
